Akua Parker was born in Kinston, North Carolina. Prior to joining Ballet San Jose in 2006, Ms. Parker was a leading dancer with Dance Theatre of Harlem (2000-04).

Thereafter, she danced with Cincinnati Ballet (2005-06). Throughout her career Ms. Parker has had the pleasure of working directly with legendary icons such as Fredric Franklin and Geoffrey Holder.

She has also had the opportunity to perform around the world in countries such as China, Haiti, Australia, and Greece. Ms. Parker is glad to be rejoining Ballet San Jose for another season.
